BOCUSE D’OR  – THE FINALS 2021

Chefs from all over the world have been testing their skills across disciplines and against the clock in the culmination of 2 years hard training for this most prestigious of events. And the finalists, representing 21 countries, put their skills to the test across two main disciplines amongst a phalanx of screaming supports armed with flags, whistles and cowbells. This is a place where careers are made, where tradition meets craftsmanship, and the level of workmanship demonstrated over the past 48 hours has been staggering.

«Whatever the result, it’s a big accomplishment just to be here,» said Jerome Bocuse, the competition’s president. And he’s not wrong, but there can only be one winner, and this year it’s the hosts, France. France’s Davy Tissot has won the Bocuse d’Or, the world-famous chef championships, held this year in the gastronomic city of Lyon. Tissot and his team pipped silver medallist Denmark’s Ronni Mortensen to the title, with Norway’s Christian Andre Pettersen also stepping up to the podium in third.

Outside of the big three, there are further prizes are awarded by the I.O.C. to the candidates who obtained the best marks in the «platter» — won by Iceland – and «take away» test —Sweden were announced the inaugural winners of this prize– with the exception of the three winners. The social commitment award went to Colombia, headed by chef Carlos Pájaro Ortiz.

Ale Mordasini and Team Switzerland finished in Top10 in 8th place and the title of best commis chef was awarded to his teammate Manuel Hofer.

BOCUSE D’OR  – FINALIST 2021

By some it is called the Chefs Olympics and by others the worlds most prestigious gastro event; created by chef Paul Bocuse in 1987,  a real show dedicated to cuisine and also to the chefs by applying the codes of major sporting events to a cooking contest.

Since this first edition, the prestigious contest is held in the heart of the Sirha – a trade show dedicated to foodservice and gastronomy since 1983 – which is held every two years in Lyon, France.

The idea: bring together 24 young chefs from around the world – among the most promising talents in their generation and country – and have them prepare two recipes in 5 hours and 35 minutes precisely, live in front of an enthusiastic audience. To determine the winners: a panel of judges composed of some of the most prestigious chefs in the world.

This years final is held on September 26th to 27th in Lyon.
